Why limit your musical listening pleasure to just one room in the house?

In the past a music system has consisted of a number of components located in one room of the house. With the emergence of multi-room technologies it is now possible to experience music throughout the home and even outdoors. Aligned to this, it is also possible to control the centrally located system from any room in the house

A multi-room music distribution system can take on many levels of sophistication ranging from a simple 2-room set up with a volume control to a multi layered design allowing independent control of source components and user feedback via touch panels in every room of the house. At Jim Tate Stereo we have considerable experience in the design and installation of integrated systems and would be most delighted to discuss the myriad of options available. We will custom design and install a system to fit perfectly into your lifestyle and blend seamlessly into your individual home environment.

Clipsal Integrated Systems

Advancements in technology and constant reduction in the costs of production have allowed home users access to technologies that we only used to dream about. Imagine a home where lighting, heating, cooling and security were all controllable via a single touch screen. Imagine never having to touch a switch but instead lights and climate controls are automated so on a 40 degree summers day you always return to a cool 23 degree home. Lights would automatically switch themselves on when it was dark and off when you went to sleep. All this is now possible and at an affordable price.

Clipsal have a range of smart products that allow for home automation and integration. C-Bus is an electronically controlled system that allows for the integration of areas such as lighting and heating. Their products include electronic switches, timers, light sensors, movement sensors and temperature sensors to name a few. With the installation and programming of these smart products you could operate your whole home by just walking past a sensor.

Kivor

MP3 technology has changed the music industry significantly in recent years. Literally millions of songs are available on the internet in MP3 form. Some of these songs are available legally and others are breaking copyright laws but however it may be, MP3s have become a common way of accessing and storing music. For some people MP3s are quite adequate, but if you know your music technology, you'll know that MP3s are compressed forms of music. What does this mean? Basically, for storage purposes, the information on your CD has been compressed down by removing certain frequencies in the music. The result is a much smaller file size for each song and hence more songs will fit on a CD. Playing back MP3 will also require a CD/DVD player that is MP3 capable. While the Linn Classik and the Unidisk both support the playback of MP3 CDs, the music quality is usually very poor (depending on how it is encoded). If high quality playback, mass storage and easy access is what you after then perhaps the Kivor Tunboks is what you are after.

The Kivor Tunboks is Linn's answer to mass music storage. The Tunboks is capable of storing upwards of 1380 hours of uncompressed high quality music (with expanded hard drive capacities). Coupled with an Oktal and a Knekt system, the Tunboks is capable allowing up to 16 users concurrent access to its archive, all without loss in audio quality. It has its own CD drive for ripping and has an on board hard drive capacity of 152 Gigabytes. The Kivor system is perfect for users who are after music without the hassles of loading and changing CDs or records.
